HOW TO CLEAN GRANITE FLOORS
Granite floors have a natural, glossy beauty that can elevate any space. To keep that shine, granite needs regular, proper care. Because granite is a natural stone made from a mix of minerals, its porosity can vary from slab to slab. While granite is less absorbent than marble, spills should still be wiped up immediately to prevent staining.
What to Avoid on Granite Floors
Many common cleaners can damage granite over time. Avoid using:
- Vinegar
- Glass cleaners
- Bleach or hydrogen peroxide
- Steel wool or abrasive scrubbing pads
These products can dull the surface and weaken the protective sealant, leading to costly repairs.
Why Soap & DIY Methods Fall Short
Warm water and mild dish soap are often recommended for granite floors. While effective for basic cleaning, soap leaves behind a thin residue each time it’s used. Over time, this buildup dulls granite’s shine.
Baking soda poultices are another popular option, but they can require 24–48 hours to dry, making them impractical in busy households with kids or pets.

Directions for Cleaning Granite Floors
- Clear Debris
Remove loose dirt, dust, and debris using a vacuum, soft-bristle broom, or dry dust mop.
- Apply Cleaner
Lightly mist ADVANAGE the Wonder Cleaner® onto the floor, working section by section.
- Mop in Sections
Dampen a mop with clean water and wring thoroughly. Damp-mop each section to lift dirt and grime.
- Dry
Allow the floor to air dry completely, or wipe dry with a soft cloth before allowing foot traffic.
Best Results Tip
Although sponge mops can be used, washable microfiber pads or disposable mopping pads deliver the best results. On highly glossy or reflective floors, damp-mop with plain water as a final rinse and wipe dry to restore maximum shine.
