How to Clean Brake Dust
HOW TO CLEAN BRAKE DUST
Brake dust can quickly dull the look of your wheels and even damage finishes if left untreated. Proper cleaning and regular maintenance keep rims looking their best and help prevent pitting, corrosion, and staining.
Brake dust consists of carbon fibers from brake pads and tiny metal shavings from rotors. Friction from braking generates heat, causing this dust to bond to wheel surfaces—especially when hot—making it difficult to remove. Over time, untreated brake dust can cause permanent staining, pitting, or etching, particularly on aluminum wheels.
Soap and water alone often aren’t enough to remove oily road grime or baked-on brake dust. ADVANAGE the Wonder Cleaner® provides a safe, powerful clean without harsh chemicals or abrasive action.
